What's not to love?
Home movie... Neon lights... Night time in the city... Ohh those lights.. Fabulous display of lighting technology of the era. Very exciting stuff. And then we go to.... Horse racing? .. Sure.. Why not.. It's a home movie, and it had to have been a heck of a vacation. The kind of vacation that leads to ... Niagra Falls..
I spend a good deal of time thinking about the folks that made these movies.. Realizing they are likely not around anymore, maybe not even kin.. Just a blink of an eye.. And man oh man, what a fantastic blink of an eye this is..

PLANTERS!
Really AMAZING footage here of the New York Neon during the 1950s. Like truly breath taking neon here. 3 layers deep. Interested in that newsreel theatre. Was that an actual theatre? Or more like an arcade? Looking it up, sonafugun, an actual movie theater. Interesting. After that, there's a wee bit of horse racing footage followed by, yes, Niagara Falls footage. The first half though, is pretty amazing. This is a MUST SEE on this site!

Fabulous - Anyone else in the mood for peanuts?
My favourite is the animated sign for various products (razors, beverage, etc).
BTW, could someone please tell me what are the buildings at
5:35 and
5:52 (no, I don't mean the Empire State Building).

New York, 1953
Fine color photography of Times Square at night ( from the movies listed on marquees, probably mid-1953). Also Aquaduct race track, some shots of NYC architecture, and a visit upstate to Niagra Falls.
